Home Rule Music Festival
The Home Rule Music Festival is a free, community-centered celebration of Washington D.C.’s musical history and cultural legacy. Now entering its fifth year, the festival brings together legendary artists, emerging voices, youth musicians, and thousands of residents for vibrant days rooted in music, place, and pride. The festival features live performances spanning jazz, go-go, hip-hop, soul, and contemporary Black music, alongside a curated Music & Record Fair highlighting top record shops and local vendors, live art murals, a Kids Zone, and a wide selection of the city’s best local food and merchandise vendors. All programming is free and open to the public, prioritizing access, cultural equity, and community connection.
Art All Night
Art All Night is the District’s largest free arts festival, taking place annually in September. Spanning all eight wards, the festival offers something for everyone, from local gallery exhibits and outdoor performances to dining experiences and neighborhood block parties. It is a featured event of 202Creates, a month-long celebration of D.C.’s creative economy. Art All Night supports D.C.’s creative economy by increasing visibility for local artists and small and local businesses, driving foot traffic to commercial corridors and restaurants, and reinforcing the District’s reputation as a vibrant cultural destination.
DC JazzFest
DC JazzFest is a five-day citywide jazz takeover, transforming the District into a celebration of place, artistry, and cultural legacy. From grand stages at the Wharf along the Southwest waterfront to storied venues in Downtown, U Street, Shaw, Eckington, Capitol Hill, Foggy Bottom, Foxhall, Takoma Park, and beyond, the festival features jazz legends, hometown heroes, and next-generation stars. The event contributes to Washington D.C.’s standing as a premier destination for jazz enthusiasts.
Funk Parade
The Washington D.C. Funk Parade is an annual music and art street festival held on U Street. It is a free, day-long event that aims to unite the community through the celebration of funk music, visual arts, and the diverse cultural history of the U Street neighborhood. The event features various live musical performances, live art demonstrations, community workshops, and food vendors. The Funk Parade, in which dancers, marching bands, beat-boxers, and various other creative art forms participate, closes the festival in the afternoon.
